I’ve been working with contractors since 1977 when I got my first construction client. They were a large plastering and drywall company in San Jose, California.

The software I sold them and 352 other contractors over the next few years was a complete contractors package including estimating, job cost and all the accounting functions a contractor needed. I sold that company in 1993.

In 1994 I started Litening Software. One of the things I’d found when talking with many contractors is that many of them were using QuickBooks for their accounting. I figured out how to integrate an estimating system into QuickBooks job cost function. The rest, as they say, is history.
