Project management is constrained by the cost and availablity of materials. When the estimator is estimating the construction project, he needs to take into account the availablity of the materials specified and take into account any availability issues.
Project schedules can be severely impacted by the availablity of materials. Even if one is getting the materials from the local Lowes or Home Depot, they may be out of stock or not available any longer. When completing a construction estimate and securing the job, material availablility must be considered immediately for products that are not in common supply.
